Lacrimer is a patient-specific eye drop, utilizing your own platelets to facilitate healing. This enhanced healing cannot be found in over-the-counter drops or even prescribed eye drops.
At Lacrimer, we spend time with you and your ophthalmologist to understand your unique condition to create the eye solution that is right for you.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an autologous solution comprised of a high concentration of platelets suspended in plasma. Platelets, or Thrombocytes, are a natural source of growth factors. Platelets circulate in the blood and are involved in hemostasis, leading to the formation of blood clots. When activated, these platelets release a large variety of known growth factors that accelerate the body’s natural healing process.
The use of PRP has been well documented in a variety of specialties for almost 25 years including Oral Surgery, Plastic Surgery, OB/GYN Surgery, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Veterinarian Medicine, and Wound Care. We have been providing PRP services for almost 20 years to several of the above mentioned specialties.
Patients who have been unable to obtain relief through other methods have reported success with this treatment. The eye drops have been effective in the treatment of ocular surface disorders such as: chronic and symptomatic Dry Eye Syndrome, single and multiple corneal ulcers, and failing corneal transplants.
